Students,
Thank you for the tremendous discussion and willingness to talk about a topic that at times can be very difficult to discuss. Diversity and tolerance are two areas of focus that I would like us to concentrate on. During our last PAC meeting, we had an opportunity to openly talk about words, phrases, and inappropriate behaviors that are taking place in our hallways. Each of you were chosen or referred to me for your leadership qualities. I am asking that you as leaders step up and help mitigate this issue starting with making sure you are not engaging in this type of behavior. Your actions alone can influence others, especially underclassmen. Find a way to incorporate your desire to see this behavior cease in group discussions, calling your good friends out when they are engaging in the behavior. Anything you can do to help the climate and culture at SLHS is very appreciated. This is your school, your building, and I want you to take ownership of it.
